In Romans 13:1,2 it says … “everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

We take this verse seriously and want to be respectful of our government. This does not mean we cannot protest or seek changes in the laws that govern us, that would better reflect scriptural teachings. However, it does mean we will do our best to abide by the laws the government has established, as long as it doesn’t go against the teaching of Scripture and attempt to turn us away from our freedom to worship and follow Christ.

At present, our government has not taken away our freedom of religion, and for this we are very grateful and blessed. Let’s continue to pray for our provincial and federal governments, that they would not turn their faces from God, but will see the truth that God has taught through His Word.
